Easts locked horns with top of the table contenders Briars. Having watched the invincible first team scrape through with a draw against them, we knew we were in for a battle.

The team took to the field with a team that was once more different in personnel to the week before. The first 20mins passed with Easts playing some good hockey, defending high and putting pressure on the battle for control of the middle third. Unfortunately, this was the best Easts could muster, for shortly afterwards, cracks started to open and Briars took control of the game, scoring once before half time.

Limping into the second half, the Easts team tried in vain to salvage some respect, but were beaten by a more well organised Briars team. Attempts at maiming our own players (with Shaun chipping a ball into Gary’s mid-riff) didn’t help matters.
