It was a warm, blue-skied winter’s afternoon when East's Thirds faced an ever-improving Macquarie Uni at P1, Olympic Park, for a clash of 1st vs. 4th in the Division 4 log.

Easts took to the field high-spirited as always, with three sets of fresh legs on hand. The first ball reached the back of the net in the first 10minutes of the game, when, in a well worked short corner, Stephen Wright slipped it back to Daniel Oakes who flicked it off the by-line for his first goal of the season.

Not long thereafter, Eduan Naude slipped it up to left winger Tom Adams who raced the ball up to the D, handing it off to Stephen Wright, who masterfully rocketed the ball midway up the back of the net.

The third goal was a well worked effort, when Adams set O’Neill free down the right, who neatly beat his inside centre before sending a diagonal cross low and hard to the top of the D towards Wright. Digby did his best to intercept the pass, but, alas, his control let him down and the ball rolled neatly to Wright to fired home his second of the day, effectively sealing the points.

However Easts weren’t finished and the 4th gave Tom his moment in the sun, which was by now being felt by all the players, when his golden wand struck the ball with force, resulting in a hard and low goal on the inside left of the net.

The incredible duo again combined their talent for the fifth goal of the game, Tom's skipped past two defenders before been driven wide by the keeper, he managed to get his shot away, which Sephen took a sliding leap and edged the ball into the back of the net, almost becoming a victim of the very goal post that was the prize.

Another well deserved clean sheet from goalie Jerry Spencer, to end a great afternoons run on the pitch.

Stephen Wright was awarded MOM, with dad Adrian Osborne receiving DOD for some off the field antics and assisted voting from his young spectators.
